Dying always includes a value. You are Unconscious and near death. At the start of each of your turns, make a DC 15 recovery check (Fortitude): critical success reduces Dying by 2, success by 1, failure increases by 1, critical failure by 2. Reaching Dying 4 (or your reduced maximum from Doomed) means death.
Recovery
- Healing to 1+ HP ends both the Dying and Unconscious conditions immediately.
- Hero Points: Spend all remaining Hero Points at the start of your turn to lose Dying entirely and stabilize at 0 HP — you don't gain Wounded from this.
- Losing Dying (by any other means) immediately gives you Wounded 1, or increases your existing Wounded value by 1.
When you gain Dying while already Wounded, add your Wounded value to the Dying value you gain. Wounded 2 + taking a killing blow = Dying 3 right out of the gate.
