A shortlist runs at most three artists deep, invited in order. Until you answer, no other artist is invited.

Briefs go only to shortlisted artists. There is nothing to bid on and nobody to outrace.

Only one artist holds the invitation at any moment. If you pass, it moves to the next artist on the shortlist.

Uploading art grants us no rights
Artists keep their copyright. Private uploads stay out of AI training and generation. Public display and Licensed Generation each require separate permission for one exact artwork version.

Originals, drafts, notes, and references stay in your Studio. Public pages use a separate, controlled copy.

How we confirm artists are human
During the alpha, we keep the group small and confirm every artist through a direct conversation before their profile goes live. For now, that means people we know or meet through trusted introductions. Artists also state that the work they submit is human-made.
As the network opens, we are looking for ways to keep that human check without asking artists for identity documents, face scans, or other invasive proof.
Artists set their availability
Artists can share open slots, a usual turnaround, and whether they keep a waitlist. We label those details as artist-reported. Availability belongs to the artist—not a platform calendar.
When both people want to move forward, the Commission Room will keep the conversation, agreement, progress, revisions, and delivery in one place. During alpha, we coordinate parts of that flow manually while it is being built.

Can artists upload drafts, experiments, and work in progress?
Yes. Invited artists can store portfolio pieces, drafts, experiments, references, and work in progress in their private Studio. Uploading a file does not publish it or give us permission to use it.
Does Narrative Nexus train on or use artist uploads as AI references?
No. Private uploads stay out of model training, evaluation, retrieval, prompts, generation references, and style matching. An artist can separately license one exact artwork version for img2img. That permission covers only that licensed use. It never covers training, fine-tuning, style imitation, or mixing work from different artists.
How does Narrative Nexus confirm artists are human?
During the alpha, we keep the group small and confirm every artist through a direct conversation before their profile goes live. Artists stay in control of their availability. A Commission Room tracks progress through agreement, payment, work, review, and delivery — it never turns an artist’s schedule into our calendar.

Who controls an artist’s commission queue?
The artist does. They choose whether commissions are open, how many slots they offer, and which invitation to accept. Narrative Nexus keeps an accepted commission organized in a private Commission Room, built on the agreement both sides signed. We never assign work or force artists onto a platform calendar.
Does joining publish an artist’s work?
No. The artist separately approves their profile, each portfolio piece, each compendium placement, and each Licensed Generation use. Public display covers only the approved version and purpose. Private source files stay private.
What is Licensed Generation?
Licensed Generation lets an artist opt one exact artwork version into img2img. Narrative Nexus sends a sanitized derivative, credits the artist, links to their profile, and adds a commission path. Artists choose lead-only or a customer-visible fixed fee. Paid uses stay off until payments, payouts, and revised terms are ready.
What happens to AI-generated placeholder images?
They stay clearly labeled as AI-generated until approved human art replaces them. We never relabel a generated image as a human-made commission.
Is the Artist Network a commission marketplace?
We are building a commission platform, not an open job board. People shortlist up to three artists, and we invite one artist at a time—no public bidding race. When both people want to work together, the commission will stay in a private Commission Room: messages, a versioned agreement, customer payment and artist payout, progress and revisions, and digital delivery. During the alpha, we coordinate some of those steps manually while we build the complete workflow. Narrative Nexus takes no platform fee during the alpha.
