Condition — Dazzled

Dazzled: all creatures concealed (DC 5 flat check) but no off-guard and no difficult terrain. Less severe than Blinded. Binary condition.

Your vision is impaired by bright light, glare, or visual interference. Dazzled is a lesser form of Blinded.

Mechanical Effects:

  • All creatures are concealed to you — DC 5 flat check before rolling attacks or targeted effects
  • You do NOT become off-guard (unlike Blinded)
  • You can still see — just not clearly
  • Terrain is NOT treated as difficult terrain (unlike Blinded)

How Applied:

  • Bright light when you have light sensitivity (like some undead or underground creatures)
  • Flash effects (like dazzling flash)
  • Some spells and monster abilities
  • Staring into the sun or a bright magical effect

How Removed:

  • Removing the light source
  • Duration expiry
  • Moving away from the dazzling effect
  • Closing or covering your eyes (but then you're Blinded instead)

Dazzled vs. Blinded: Dazzled is strictly less severe than Blinded. Blinded includes everything Dazzled does plus: off-guard, difficult terrain, auto-fail vision Perception. If you are both Dazzled and Blinded, only Blinded matters (they don't stack).

Value: Dazzled has no value — it's binary.
