Condition — Clumsy
Clumsy (value): status penalty to all DEX-based checks, DCs, and AC equal to value. Does not stack with itself. Stacks with circumstance penalties.
Your movements become awkward and imprecise. Clumsy always has a numerical value (Clumsy 1, Clumsy 2, etc.).
Mechanical Effects:
- Status penalty equal to the Clumsy value on:
- Dexterity-based checks and DCs (Acrobatics, Stealth, Thievery, Reflex saves)
- AC (since AC includes your Dexterity modifier)
- Does NOT affect Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma-based checks
How Applied:
- Certain poisons and diseases
- Some spells and magical effects
- Exhaustion or physical debilitation
- Some monster abilities
How Removed:
- Duration expiry
- Healing or restoration effects that specifically remove Clumsy
- Restoration spell
- Rest (if caused by temporary effect)
Stacking:
- Clumsy does NOT stack with itself. If you have Clumsy 2 and gain Clumsy 1, you remain at Clumsy 2 (higher value wins)
- As a status penalty, Clumsy does not stack with other status penalties to the same check — only the worst applies
- Clumsy DOES stack with circumstance penalties (like Off-Guard's -2 circumstance to AC)
Example: A Clumsy 2 character with 14 DEX (+2 modifier) effectively has +0 for DEX checks and their AC is reduced by 2.
