Stealth
Dexterity-based skill for hiding and moving without detection.
Stealth covers moving silently and remaining hidden from detection. It is governed by Dexterity.
When to roll: The DM calls for a Stealth check when a character attempts to hide or move without being noticed.
Hiding rules:
- You can attempt to hide when you are heavily obscured or behind cover
- When hidden, your location is unknown to enemies; they must guess where you are
- An unseen attacker has advantage on attack rolls against targets that can't see them
- You give away your location when you make an attack, whether it hits or misses, unless a special ability lets you stay hidden
Contested checks: Stealth is contested by the passive Perception (or active Perception check) of creatures trying to detect you.
Armor: Wearing medium or heavy armor may impose disadvantage on Stealth checks (varies by armor type).
Group Stealth: When the group attempts to move stealthily, the DM may call for a group check — the group succeeds if at least half the characters succeed.
