Artist Beta Terms

Invited artists may use a private Studio for portfolio pieces, drafts, experiments, references, and work in progress. Studio material stays private unless the artist separately approves an exact controlled derivative for public display or deliberately attaches material to a private commission room.

An invited artist may create a public, unlisted, private, or paused profile and may report commission availability. Narrative Nexus may privately invite up to three shortlisted artists in order; it does not publish an open job pool, run bidding, or make an artist accept a request.

The beta includes private commission rooms, in-app messages, bilateral agreement records, and scanned delivery of digital image files. Stripe payout onboarding and checkout may run in test mode. Real charges, transfers, refunds, and artist payouts remain disabled until the settlement lane and the terms that govern it are approved and activated.

The artist retains copyright in their work. Taking part in this beta, uploading work to the private Studio, or making a profile visible does not transfer ownership to Narrative Nexus.

Any permission the artist gives must be affirmative and specific to its stated purpose. Approving a profile, link, credit, or commission status does not grant rights to any private material. Approving one exact derivative for public display does not create a blanket right to use the source or another version for another purpose.

The artist chooses the public credit for approved public work, including a pseudonym. Narrative Nexus will use that chosen credit when it displays the approved derivative.

Each of the following is a separate right that requires the artist’s affirmative approval in the relevant record. Approval of one does not approve another.

Portfolio display

publishing the artist’s portfolio link or an approved derivative in a public artist-facing listing.

Commission or campaign delivery

delivering an approved derivative for a named commission or campaign.

Marketing reuse

using an approved derivative to promote Narrative Nexus or the beta.

Commercial use

using an approved derivative in a paid or revenue-connected context.

Adaptations

creating or using a changed version of the work or approved derivative.

Exclusivity

limiting the artist’s ability to license or use the work elsewhere.

Source-file access

receiving, storing, or using an original, layered, or editable source file.

Future monitoring

carrying out monitoring, alerts, or follow-up about public use after the initial approval.

Studio uploads, including portfolio pieces, originals, drafts, experiments, references, briefs, and metadata, are private by default. Uploading an image, creating a profile, changing profile visibility, or listing a portfolio link does not publish a Studio file, submit it for review, grant public-display rights, or create permission to make a public derivative.

Artist materials will not be used for model training, model evaluation, prompts, generation references, style exemplars, generative retrieval, dataset sale, or unrelated sublicensing unless the artist later makes a separate, explicit choice for that exact use.

When an artist deletes private Studio material, Narrative Nexus will remove the active workspace record and stored file through its normal deletion process. Limited security, audit, backup, legal-hold, or legally required records may remain for only as long as needed for those purposes.

A public artist portfolio or compendium placement may display only the exact approved controlled derivative covered by a current human-made attestation and a specific current grant of public-display rights. The private source, other versions, and other Studio materials remain private.

When an eligible approved human artwork is available for a compendium placement, it takes precedence over generated placeholder art. When no human artwork qualifies, Narrative Nexus may continue to show a disclosed AI-generated placeholder; it will not present that placeholder as human-made.

An artist may separately choose to link eligible compendium credit to their public artist profile. That link is optional and artist-controlled. Turning it off leaves the required credit as plain text and does not change the underlying display permission.

A commission room is private to the requester, the invited artist, and authorized Narrative Nexus operators. It keeps the brief, messages, agreement revisions, payment status, delivery revisions, and decisions for that commission together. Neither an invitation nor an expression of interest requires either person to proceed.

Before work begins, the requester and artist accept the same agreement revision. It records the price and currency, payment schedule, included revisions, cancellation and refund terms, deadline, deliverables, attribution, and license. Their accepted agreement is the commission agreement between them; Narrative Nexus provides the workflow and records but is not the artist, requester, employer, agent, or a party promising the creative result.

Messages stay inside the commission room. Participants must not use them for harassment, threats, spam, impersonation, prohibited sexual content, requests involving a minor, or material they lack authority to share. Narrative Nexus may preserve and review room records when needed to operate the service, respond to a report, prevent abuse, or meet a legal obligation.

Digital delivery currently accepts supported image files only. A new delivery revision stays unavailable to the requester while it is quarantined, scanned for malware, decoded, and rebuilt as a controlled image. A failed, suspicious, unsupported, or unscannable file is not delivered. The artist may replace it with another revision.

The requester may accept the exact clean delivery revision or request changes. Acceptance activates only the attribution and use rights recorded in the accepted agreement for that commission. It does not grant rights to private Studio material, another artwork, another version, training, general style imitation, or any use the agreement does not name.

Stripe Connect onboarding and checkout are sandbox-only in this beta. Test-mode screens do not create a real charge, transfer, refund, tax obligation, or payout. Narrative Nexus takes no platform fee from a beta commission. Real payment and artist settlement require a separately activated money path, new applicable terms, and the disclosures shown before anyone pays.

Narrative Nexus does not provide escrow, guarantee payment or delivery, decide ownership or authorship, give legal or tax advice, or promise a particular outcome in a cancellation, refund, chargeback, or other dispute. It may pause the affected workflow and preserve its records for human review.

The beta does not admit requests involving harassment, threats, spam, impersonation, sexual content, a request involving a minor, pressure to move beyond an agreed contact route, material the requester acknowledges they lack authority to share, or material prohibited by Narrative Nexus policies.

A report or credible concern about a reference pauses the affected activity for review; it is an allegation, not a finding of theft, ownership, authorship, identity, intent, or fault.

Narrative Nexus may temporarily pause a new contact, newly reported upload, or disputed workflow for imminent risk only when its restricted containment system can provide an auditable founder page, notice, appeal, and automatic restoration. That pause must be reversible and restore automatically no more than 24 hours after it begins. A founder decision is a separate authorized action and does not silently extend the pause. When the containment system is unavailable, the agent abstains, keeps the activity at its ordinary safe boundary, and requests human review.

When an artist describes work as human-made for this beta, that is the artist's attestation. The artist should disclose collaborators and material assistive inputs so the record is accurate.

This beta does not use surveillance or legal verification to determine whether an attestation is true. An attestation is not a legal finding or a promise that Narrative Nexus has independently verified the work.

An artist may change or pause profile visibility and may separately ask to withdraw an approved derivative. Changing profile visibility does not by itself withdraw an artwork display grant, and withdrawing an artwork does not by itself delete the artist profile; each choice is handled through its own control or request.

After a withdrawal request is handled, Narrative Nexus will stop future public display of the withdrawn derivative. Material already copied or captured outside Narrative Nexus may remain beyond our control. We may also preserve the limited records needed to document the request and our response, or when a legal hold or legal obligation requires it.

An agent may acknowledge, classify, deduplicate, request missing information, assemble the supplied record, cite this policy, provide status, retry a notice, and carry out an already approved reversible credit correction.

An agent may use the time-limited safety pause described above only for imminent harm and only while the restricted containment system is enabled. It must page the founder through the approved restricted route, record the expiry and restoration path, and make no finding about ownership, identity, intent, or fault.

An agent may recommend participation removal, workflow cancellation, restoration, or another material beta action, but the founder decides only when the decision is within the beta authority described here.

An agent must abstain and pause for money movement, ownership or authorship adjudication, legal notices, KYC or identity decisions, privacy disclosure, law-enforcement contact, a novel jurisdiction, low confidence, conflicting policy, or an appeal beyond founder authority. Native payments, marketplace contracts, tax or chargeback allocation, and takedown services require the applicable qualified legal or accounting review and new approved terms before launch.

Licensed Generation is a separate, optional img2img permission for one exact artwork version. Uploading artwork, publishing a profile or portfolio sample, approving public display, or accepting a commission introduction does not grant this permission. Replacing or editing the artwork requires a new choice.

The permission covers only img2img using a sanitized, controlled reference derivative made by Narrative Nexus. It does not permit model training, fine-tuning, evaluation content, general style imitation, cross-artist blending, style exemplars, dataset sale, or unrelated sublicensing. The private original is not sent to a generation provider.

The artist chooses commission-lead only or an artist-set fixed fee for each licensed use. Lead-only means the artist affirmatively chooses credit and commission leads without a license fee; exposure is not otherwise treated as payment. Percentage compensation is not active in this beta.

A customer sees any fixed artist fee in the quote before generating. Paid Licensed Generation is not available under these terms: no customer charge, artist payable, transfer, or payout will occur until a reviewed payment and settlement path and new applicable terms are live.

Every licensed result is labeled “AI-generated using a licensed reference by [artist]” without implying the artist made the AI output. It includes visible artist credit, a profile link, and a “Commission the human version” path with the generated result available to attach to a private brief.

When paid use is later activated under new terms, the artist fee will accrue when the controlled reference derivative is actually submitted to the generation provider. One logical generation creates one licensed use even if Narrative Nexus retries internally; Narrative Nexus bears failed-generation and retry risk.

Provider policy licensed-reference-providers-v1 applies to Licensed Generation permission version licensed-generation-beta-2026-07. The artist must affirmatively accept both published versions when enabling an exact artwork version.

Narrative Nexus sends only the sanitized controlled derivative needed for the quoted img2img request. It records the exact license revision, artwork version, provider and model, generated output, attribution, and compensation snapshot in its durable provenance record.

The provider receives the reference only after the requester accepts the exact quote and Licensed Generation terms. The permission does not authorize the provider or Narrative Nexus to use the reference for training, fine-tuning, evaluation content, general style imitation, cross-artist blending, or any generation outside that logical request.

Narrative Nexus also requires a portable C2PA Content Credential identifying the licensed reference as an ingredient and the result as AI-generated. Portable metadata can be removed, so the Nexus provenance record remains the durable source of the license and compensation history.

Paid submission remains disabled while the current beta excludes Nexus payment routing and artist payouts. Publishing this policy and allowing artist configuration do not claim that paid execution, settlement, or C2PA signing infrastructure is live.

The Protection Center is a private recordkeeping tool for possible copies of an exact approved public derivative. A public visitor may submit the controlled artwork address shown by Narrative Nexus and an external page or image address. The report is an allegation for the artist’s private review; it does not confirm copying, ownership, permission, infringement, identity, or fault.

Narrative Nexus does not fetch or copy the reported page, monitor the web, contact the host, send a legal notice, remove material, or promise an investigation through this tool. Asking for later Nexus review records the artist’s request only and creates no service level or promise that Nexus has accepted the case.

The artist may classify a report as not a match, authorized, review requested, or closed and may export a narrow JSON record. The export excludes private originals, source files, storage keys, signed addresses, reporter and network identifiers, analytics identifiers, and copied third-party material.

An artist may record preferences for public discovery, image indexing, and AI crawler access for an exact controlled derivative. These are records of the artist’s intent, not guarantees that Narrative Nexus or a third-party crawler has blocked, excluded, removed, or protected the artwork. Monitoring enrollment and legal enforcement remain separate permissions and are not offered by this beta.

Deleting private Studio material remains available. When a public, licensing, or protection record must remain coherent, Narrative Nexus may remove the private bytes and private metadata while retaining the minimum rights and event tombstone needed to document what occurred. Sensitive case evidence may be purged separately.
