Condition — Immobilized
Immobilized: can't use any move-trait actions. NOT Off-Guard on its own. Can still attack, cast, and defend. Teleportation bypasses it. Freed by Escape or source removal.
You can't use any actions with the move trait. You're stuck in place.
Mechanical Effects:
- Can't use Stride, Step, Fly, Swim, Climb, Burrow or any other action with the move trait
- Can still take all other actions normally (attack, cast spells, use items)
- You are NOT Off-Guard from Immobilized alone (that requires Grabbed or Restrained)
How Applied:
- Grabbed condition (includes Immobilized)
- Restrained condition (includes Immobilized)
- Some spells (like entangle)
- Environmental effects (stuck in mud, webbing, ice)
- Certain monster abilities
How Removed:
- Escape action if caused by a grab or restraint
- Removing the source (clearing the webs, breaking free from ice)
- Duration expiry
- Freedom of movement
Interactions:
- Immobilized does NOT prevent teleportation (like dimension door) — teleportation is not a move action
- Immobilized does NOT make you Off-Guard by itself — you retain full AC
- If you have multiple speed types and only one is restricted (e.g., your feet are stuck but you can fly), the GM adjudicates
Tactical Impact: Immobilized is a moderate debuff — you can't reposition, but you can still fight effectively. The real danger is being Immobilized in a bad position (surrounded, in a hazard zone) with no way to move out.
