Condition — Enfeebled

Enfeebled (value): status penalty to STR checks and melee damage. Devastating for STR-based martials. Does not stack with itself. Removed by Restoration or duration expiry.

Your physical strength is diminished. Enfeebled always has a numerical value.

Mechanical Effects:

  • Status penalty equal to the Enfeebled value on:
    • Strength-based checks and DCs (Athletics checks, STR-based attack rolls)
    • Melee damage rolls that use Strength
  • Does NOT affect AC (that's Clumsy)
  • Does NOT affect HP (that's Drained)

How Applied:

  • Poisons (many poisons cause Enfeebled)
  • Ray of Enfeeblement and similar spells
  • Disease
  • Some undead and monster abilities
  • Extreme fatigue or magical weakness

How Removed:

  • Duration expiry
  • Restoration spell
  • Antidotes (if caused by poison)
  • Rest (if caused by temporary effect)

Stacking:

  • Does not stack with itself — highest value applies
  • As a status penalty, does not stack with other status penalties to STR checks
  • DOES stack with circumstance penalties

Tactical Impact:

  • Primarily affects martial characters who rely on STR for attacks and damage
  • Enfeebled 3 on a Fighter means -3 to attack AND -3 to damage — a massive reduction
  • DEX-based characters (Rogues, Rangers with finesse weapons) are less affected
  • Enfeebled does not affect spell DCs or spell attack rolls (those use mental stats)
