Key 1st-Level Features:
- Attack of Opportunity (Reaction): When a creature within reach uses a manipulate action, moves, or makes a ranged attack, you can make a melee Strike. IMPORTANT: Attack of Opportunity is NOT universal in PF2e. Unlike D&D 5e, most classes and most monsters do NOT have this reaction. Fighters (and Champions with their own variant) are the only classes that gain it automatically. Other classes can gain it only through specific feats at higher levels. This is a key difference from other systems — players can generally move freely in combat without fear of opportunity attacks unless fighting a Fighter, Champion, or a creature that specifically has this ability.
- Shield Block (Bonus Feat): Use your reaction to reduce damage with a shield.
- Combat Feats: Fighters get a bonus combat feat at every even level starting at level 1 (others get them at level 2+). Feats like Power Attack, Double Slice, Knockdown, and Whirlwind Strike define playstyle.
