Required. The Nova has a list of Burn options — extreme effects: massive area damage, sudden mobility, transmutation, force fields, anything epic. To Burn, declare the effect and pick a cost from the Burn list: lose control of the next scene, mark Hopeless, attack an ally, leave a city block in ruins, draw a worse enemy. Then it works.
