Animal Handling

Wisdom-based skill for calming, training, and communicating with animals and mounts.

Animal Handling covers calming, training, and interacting with animals. It is governed by Wisdom.

When to roll: The DM calls for an Animal Handling check when a character interacts with an animal in a meaningful way.

Common uses:

Calming a spooked or agitated animal
Keeping control of a mount in a stressful situation
Guiding a mount without a saddle
Intuiting an animal's intentions or emotional state
Training an animal to perform a simple task

Proficiency: Ranger and Druid commonly have Animal Handling proficiency.
