Magic and Spellcasting

Spellcasting uses spell ranks and slots; traditions are divine ([[compendium:class:Mystic]]), arcane ([[compendium:class:Technomancer]]), or occult ([[compendium:class:Witchwarper]]).

Magic in Starfinder 2e uses the same spellcasting framework as Pathfinder 2e. Spellcasters have spell slots organized by rank (1–10). Spontaneous casters (Mystic, Witchwarper) know a fixed number of spells and can cast them freely within their slots. Prepared casters (Technomancer) fill slots each morning.

Traditions: Mystics use divine magic; Technomancers use arcane magic; Witchwarpers use occult magic. Solarians channel stellar forces through a unique attunement mechanic rather than standard spell slots.

Cantrips are rank-0 spells that scale automatically with caster level and never consume slots. Most utility magic (Detect Magic, Ghost Sound, Message) is available as cantrips.

Spellcasting actions follow the normal 3-action economy — most spells cost 2 actions to cast.
