The Three-Action Economy

Each combatant has 3 actions and 1 reaction per round; actions combine flexibly for attacks, movement, and abilities.

Every round, each creature gains 3 actions and 1 free reaction. Actions are spent on anything from attacking (Strike — 1 action) to moving (Stride — 1 action) to complex maneuvers. Combining three actions into a single activity unlocks powerful options.

Action cost conventions:

  • 1 action: Strike, Stride, Step, Draw/Stow weapon, Interact
  • 2 actions: most spells, Blast full-auto fire, Hack
  • 3 actions: some spells, extended activities

A reaction triggers off a specific condition (e.g., Attack of Opportunity), usable once per round. Free actions have no cost but usually have a frequency limit. This economy rewards tactical variety — mixing attacks, movement, and utility beats spamming a single option.
