Every species follows a natural arc as it emerges and evolves: rising, thriving, declining, and falling into extinction. When extremely unnatural ends to these paths occur—when unexpected predation, industrialization, or alien pathogens wipe out a population—endlings are born. These spectral members of extinct species typically develop as “answers” to their eradication. Xenobiologists differ on what creates endlings, unable to confirm whether the creatures are a species’ last collective sorrow made manifest or just vengeful individual spirits—the last lights to go out. Members Jinchori Endling (Creature 6), Koruvi Endling (Creature 3), Rivarin Endling (Creature 10) Ends and Beginnings Xenodruids learn how to perform rituals that can exorcise the endlings from a world. With enough effort and time, a Xenowarden branch might even bring a vanished species back to existence. But not all nature's defenders see endlings as unnatural. Twisted xenodruid necromancers create endlings as instruments of vengeance and conquest. Other Endlings All living things must die. Endlings haunt countless worlds, taking on forms unique to the circumstances of the species' evolution and extinction. Legends tell of gigantic endlings formed by the death of an entire world.
