Condition — Stupefied

Stupefied (value): status penalty to mental checks/DCs and spell attacks. Must make DC 5+value flat check to cast or lose the spell. The anti-caster condition.

Your mental faculties are impaired. Stupefied always has a value.

Mechanical Effects:

  • Status penalty equal to Stupefied value on:
    • Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma-based checks and DCs
    • Spell attack rolls and spell DCs
  • When you Cast a Spell while Stupefied, you must succeed on a DC 5 + Stupefied value flat check or the spell fails and is lost

How Applied:

  • Brain damage, concussion
  • Certain poisons and diseases (especially psychic poisons)
  • Some monster abilities (intellect devourer, aberrations)
  • Mind-affecting spells

How Removed:

  • Restoration spell
  • Duration expiry
  • Rest (if temporary)
  • Healing effects that specifically address mental conditions

Stacking:

  • Does not stack with itself — highest value applies
  • Status penalty does not stack with other status penalties to the same checks

Tactical Impact: Stupefied is the anti-caster condition. The flat check to cast spells combined with the penalty to spell DCs and spell attacks makes spellcasting unreliable. A Stupefied 2 spellcaster has a 30% chance of losing every spell they cast AND all their DCs are 2 lower. Devastating.
