Giant Tardigrade
This outsized water bear simply refuses to die, curling into an unkillable husk to wait out fire, poison, or starvation until it can revive.
A giant tardigrade is an outsized "water bear," a hardy invertebrate that survives where almost nothing else can. When death finally comes for it, it simply refuses, curling into a dry husk to wait out the worst.
To identify one, use Recall Knowledge - Animal (Nature): DC 26.
