Religion

Intelligence-based skill for knowledge of deities, sacred rites, divine magic, and religious organizations.

Religion covers knowledge of deities, religious rites, sacred symbols, and the workings of divine magic. It is governed by Intelligence.

When to roll: The DM calls for a Religion check when a character tries to recall information about gods, religious orders, or divine practices.

Common uses:

  • Identifying a holy symbol or recognizing a deity's domain
  • Recalling the tenets, rituals, or history of a religious order
  • Understanding divine magical effects or undead creatures
  • Identifying sacred texts or liturgical writings
  • Knowing how to properly perform a rite or ceremony

Proficiency: Cleric and Paladin commonly have Religion proficiency.
