Proficiency Bonus
Scales from +2 (levels 1-4) to +6 (levels 17-20). Added to proficient skill checks, saving throws, and weapon/spell attack rolls.
The proficiency bonus represents training and experience, and grows as a character advances in level.
Values by level:

Applied to:
- Attack rolls with weapons and spells you are proficient with
- Saving throws for your two class saving throw proficiencies
- Skill checks for skills you are proficient in
- Ability checks using tools you are proficient with
Never applied twice: Even if two rules say to add your proficiency bonus, you add it only once.
Expertise: Some classes (Rogue, Bard) allow doubling the proficiency bonus for certain skills.
Jack of All Trades (Bard): At level 2, add half proficiency bonus (rounded down) to any ability check that doesn't already include your proficiency bonus.
