Padded Armor

Light armor: AC 11 + DEX. Imposes stealth disadvantage. Generally outclassed by leather armor at the same price.

Padded Armor (Light)

Padded armor consists of quilted layers of cloth and batting, providing minimal protection.

Stats:

  • AC: 11 + Dexterity modifier
  • Stealth: Disadvantage
  • Weight: 8 lb
  • Cost: 5 gp
  • Category: Light armor

Proficiency required: Light armor proficiency (most classes have this).

Don/doff time: 1 minute to don, 1 minute to doff.

Assessment: Padded armor is generally the worst armor in the game. It offers the same AC as leather but imposes disadvantage on Stealth checks. There is almost no reason to choose padded over leather armor, as leather costs the same and has no stealth penalty. The only scenario where padded might be relevant is if leather is unavailable in the campaign setting.
