Key 1st-Level Features:
- Divine Sense: Detect the presence of undead, fiends, and celestials within 60 feet as an action. Usable 1 + Charisma modifier times per long rest.
- Lay on Hands: Pool of HP equal to 5 × Paladin level. As an action, touch a creature to restore HP from this pool, or spend 5 HP from the pool to cure one disease or neutralize one poison.
- Spellcasting (level 2): Charisma-based half caster. Paladins prepare spells from the Paladin list. Smite spells are always prepared.
- Divine Smite (level 2): Expend a spell slot when hitting with a melee attack to deal extra 2d8 radiant damage (plus 1d8 per slot level above 1st, to a maximum of 5d8). The damage increases by 1d8 against undead or fiends.
Subclass (Sacred Oath): Chosen at level 3.
