Crinwin Nests Outside the Tomb

Paper citadels of a wretched swarm, where stolen voices sing from the branches.

Small papery Crinwin nests hanging in the boughs of the three oaks atop the hill. Wasps colonize them. Four sentries always watch from the trees, often singing in the stolen voices of Wynfor and Tiwlip.

Crinwin disposition

At any time: 4 sentries outside (on watch), 1d4+2 sleeping in nests, 1d6-1 doing crinwin stuff (foraging, fighting over junk, mimicking voices).

When PCs are noticed

  • Sentries spot PCs: stop singing, switch to bird calls. Others scatter and hide. Sleepers wake but stay hidden
  • PCs poke around: sentries watch, sneak closer, keep birdsong signals
  • PCs try to enter the tomb: sentries start howling like wolves. Replies come back from the Wood. Crinwin inside go on alert. About 30 minutes later, 1d6+9 foraging crinwin arrive back
  • PCs attack sentries: flee into the canopy if possible, into the tomb if not. If hounded, start the wolf-howls
  • PCs molest a nest: crinwin burst out, wasps swarm. Try to daze or confound, then flee
