The Labyrinth

The tunnels beneath the tunnels — natural stone older than any Maker's chisel.

Dig down through the Delves long enough and you stop hitting tunnels people made. The Labyrinth is the network of natural caverns and lava tubes that twists for miles beneath The Huffel Peaks — where Maker-hewn passages and rough mine shafts give way to something older.

The Ustrina emerge from it to trade, The Thraulgwyn raid and dwell within it, and Forge Lord ruins, ore, gems, coal, magma, Portal Vaults, and old horrors draw the greedy or desperate deeper than sense allows.

Hooks

Use the Labyrinth for disorientation, darkness, impossible scale, lost supplies, thraulgwyn encounters, Forge Lord discoveries, and the kind of underground travel where getting back out is a victory in itself.

Notable features

  • The thraulgwyn — the 'pale demons' — white-haired raiders wielding weapons of bone and volcanic glass
  • The Portal Vault, and Forge Lord ruins worth risking the dark for
  • The vast and hostile darkness; the humbling scale of the tunnels; air heavy with the smell of earth, stone, and sulfur
