Their bands are bound by kinship, treaty, rivalry, and trade across the Steplands and roads south.
Dozens of nomadic bands across The Steplands, bound together by kinship, intermarriage, treaty, rivalry, blood-feud, and old grudges.
Some roam The Flats in warmer months, some trade with Stonetop, and many deal warily with merchants, travelers, and Manmarchers. They rarely speak plainly about their ancestry: their forebears were human servants and slaves of The Stone Lords who rebelled during the Cataclysm, called on The Things Below, and later became bound up in the dark age of The Barrow Builders. That history is why barrows, Stone Lord ruins, and metal mining carry such weight among them.
Taboos
- They shun barrows and warn others away from them
- Their contempt for Gordin's Delve is profound — mining metal ores is sacrilege
Hooks
- Proud neighbors or seasonal traders at the edge of Stonetop
- Raiders, guides, or kin to a PC
- Guardians of old taboos that settled folk keep blundering through
