The seven planets of the Collective became inextricably linked long before the Gap when a strange comet passed near each world, shedding psychically sensitive szandite crystals onto each planet. These crystals allowed for interplanetary communication between the peoples on these worlds long before they developed starship technology. The other members of the Collective, spread across four star separate systems, include two-headed phasorqs, spiderlike atraxids, sightless ords, semiaquatic binnaquds, dwarflike hardors, and mollusk-like mecenaics. Due to the physiological differences between these species, they've purposefully designed the Collective's modular starships to include living quarters and environmental protections suitable for all manner of life-forms.
