Using Nets

A tethered net grapples a foe from range and holds them fast, or comes off the hand entirely as a thrown weapon instead.

Nets aren’t weapons, despite being used similarly. They are held in two hands and can be used in two distinct ways.

With a rope attached, you can use the net to Grapple a Medium or smaller creature from up to 10 feet away, and can continue to Grapple the target so long as it remains within 10 feet and you continue to hold the net. The grabbed creature gains a +2 circumstance bonus to Escape unless you’re adjacent to it and can attempt a DC 16 Athletics check to Force Open the net. Once the target Escapes, the net is unwieldy until you use an Interact action with the concentrate trait and two free hands to refold it; until refolded, Grapple checks attempted with the net take a –2 penalty.

Without a rope, you can throw the net, attempting a ranged attack roll using your simple weapon proficiency against a Medium or smaller creature within 20 feet.
