Weapon Trait — Agile
Agile: reduces MAP to -4/-8 (from -5/-10). Makes second attacks more viable. Essential for multi-attack builds. Common on light weapons and unarmed strikes.
Agile weapons are light and fast, reducing the Multiple Attack Penalty (MAP).
Mechanical Effect:
- Your Multiple Attack Penalty with this weapon is -4 on second attack and -8 on third (instead of the normal -5/-10)
- This applies only to attacks made WITH this weapon — other weapons still use normal MAP
Why It Matters: In PF2e, second and third attacks are significantly less likely to hit due to MAP. Agile reduces the penalty by 1 on each step, making follow-up attacks more viable.
Common Agile Weapons:
- Shortsword, dagger, rapier (with finesse), light mace, kukri
- Fists (unarmed attacks are Agile by default)
- Many monk weapons
MAP Comparison:
| Attack # | Normal | Agile |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | +0 | +0 |
| 2nd | -5 | -4 |
| 3rd | -10 | -8 |
Tactical Note: Agile weapons are best for characters who make multiple Strikes per turn — dual wielders, Flurry Rangers, and Monks. The -4 vs -5 difference on the second attack is meaningful in PF2e's tight math where +1 matters.
