Abyss Gate Defenders
Three horrors guard a rift breach in layers: one shreds armor up close, one poisons casters at range, one pounces on whoever engaged first.
A level-10 extreme encounter guarding a cracked planar rift. A bebilith anchors the defense while a piscodaemon harasses spellcasters and a peluda charges melee fighters.
Difficulty Extreme · Level 10 · Party 4 · Environment Planar
The air tastes of copper and ozone. A jagged crack in reality hangs before you, leaking abyssal light. Three shapes stir in the flickering glow.
Tactics. Bebilith opens with Rend Armor on the most heavily armored PC. Piscodaemon targets casters with Tentacle Whip at range, applying toxin. Peluda charges whoever the bebilith engaged.
Scaling. For 3 players: remove the peluda. For 5 players: add a guardian naga emerging from the rift at initiative 20 if combat lasts 3+ rounds.
Aftermath. The rift can be sealed with a ritual of DC 35 Religion or Arcana. Failure destabilizes it further, summoning 1d3 dretch reinforcements.
