Shellback Drake

The patch of earth you almost sat down on, waiting for something warm to pass too close.

Solitary, cautious, hardy, patient. A shellback drake is like a snapping turtle stretched to six feet and four hundred pounds, with badger-like claws and far more speed than its shape suggests. It buries itself under soil until grass starts growing over it, then snaps at whatever comes too close.
