The ancient crinwin that tends the nest — bloated with years, patient as rot.

Solitary, stealthy, terrifying. In the oldest and largest crinwin nests, the nursery is a warm, moist chamber carved out of living wood and lined with hexagonal tubes full of goo and larval crinwin. The pupae feed on the goo and on each other, tended by an old crinwin or, in the worst nests, by a broodfather.
