Specter

A soul curdled into pure spite, hateful of every warm and breathing thing.

Solitary, spirit, undead, stealthy, terrifying, cruel. A specter is a soul consumed by hatred and envy, cruelty and rage. Maybe they were a sadistic murderer in life, or a victim whose death was so traumatic that they lash out at any living thing. Maybe they were a pining ghost whose loved ones rejected them, or a fettered soul long- and cruelly-bound, now set free. Regardless: they are now a thing of spite and vengeance, wanting only to punish those with the temerity to live.
