The Dread River

A wide, glassy river that swallows the unwary without so much as a ripple.

It looks placid. It is not. The Dread River — the eastern border of the World's End — flows from the Whitefangs through the North and South Manmarch and grows wide, deep, smooth-faced, and relentlessly dangerous in its lower reaches.

Its length is cursed. The western shore alternates between wetlands, bluffs, and ruins, and the river is associated with monsters, the Suileach, old city ruins, and lands across the water that are strange even by local standards.

Hooks

Use the Dread River as a boundary that watches back: crossing, camping, fishing, ruin-hunting, or simply spending a night near it should feel like entering the attention of something ancient and hungry.
