The Great Wood
Ancient forest stretching beyond reckoning, where the trees keep their own counsel.
Almost no one from the village goes more than a day or two in, and the trees remember everyone who did. The Great Wood stretches hundreds of miles east from Stonetop — hilly and rugged, crossed by streams and ponds, with dense brush in some places and enormous old-growth trees in others.
For generations, Stonetop has honored the old compact with The Forest Folk: no living tree is felled in the Wood. The Forest Folk are gone, but the promise, the glyphs, the sacred places, the Fae, the spirits, and the things once kept in check remain.
Hooks
Use the Great Wood as the nearest vast unknown: beautiful, useful, inhabited, and dangerous. Every foraging trip, missing hunter, sacred grove, Fae bargain, and old Green Lord ruin should feel close enough to matter and deep enough to swallow a campaign.
