The Forest's Wrath

Trespass into the Red Grove, or harvest its redwood without the forest spirits' blessing, and the curse finds you. The greater the transgression, the faster it escalates. It begins with nightmares and hostile birds and beasts; friends and family are drawn in next; the whole village loses sleep as the Wood turns hostile and saplings sprout overnight in town. Left unanswered, crops fail, livestock revolt, homes collapse, and the granary rots. Penance — the right offering, the right act — can end it.
