A circlet of black, glossy metal set with eight spires of aetherium, sized for a head twice as large as yours and always a touch cold. Cast into the hottest furnace, it will neither melt nor warm. Touch it with bare flesh and open your mind, and you can speak to the primordial spirit of the void to which it is attuned.
The crown was made for some forgotten king with a head far larger than any human's, and the spirit it tethers was never meant to walk among the living. What answers is a confused, angry thing from beyond the edge of the world, baffled and enraged by the noise and chaos of warm, breathing creatures. It does not love its wearer and never will; at best it is leashed, and a leash is only as good as the hand that holds it.
