A pale blue metal flatbow has no string and no hooks to hang one, for it was never meant to fire arrows. Unlocking it requires an attuned aetherium glove, the secret word, lightning to charge it, and weeks of dangerous practice. Once mastered, speaking the word and grasping the empty stave draws a crackling line of lightning into being — a thunderbolt loosed across great distance that ignores armor, though an overdrawn shot can burst the bow apart in a blast of its own.
