A strange charm strung on a simple leather cord, shaped like a single scale of some shimmering material, cold and clammy against the skin. When you first put it on, everyone nearby shivers from the chill, and soon after you begin to hear the raspy, inhaling whispers it makes. It is a hungry thing that traffics in last breaths, and unlocking it asks a terrible price: you must wear it through a lunar cycle, nearly drown yourself, and drown another to feed it their dying gasp. Those who pay it become unfazed by killing cold and able to forsake air at will.
To unlock it
- wear it ceaselessly for a lunar cycle, answering its questions honestly.
- hold yourself underwater until you risk drowning.
- drown another person, and offer their last gasps to the pendant.
