A rusted blade with a fire-spirit still curled in its steel, waiting to be proven worthy.

A rusty steel blade, once finely made, still carries hot rune-like swirls along its length and the spirit of fire bound within. Restoring it to its old edge is only the first labor; the spirit must be communed with and convinced that its bearer deserves to wield it. Even won over, the fire is no tame thing, and only a scabbard able to endure forge-heat will safely sheath it. In a worthy hand the blade erupts into living, dangerous flame.

To unlock it

restore the blade, which requires access to a smithy, a few weeks of work, and no small amount of skill.
commune with the spirit of fire within the steel (Instinct to seek glory), and convince it that you are worthy to wield the blade.
acquire a scabbard that can withstand the fire and heat of a forge.
