Fear of the Flame

Roughly four feet by seven when unfurled, this richly woven rug is patterned with stylized tongues of fire. Flickering Maker-runes hide in the weave, always just out of focus, hinting at the power coiled within. To unlock its secrets a person must be marked by fire and lose themselves to the panic of burning, then meditate upon it for weeks until the runes resolve — and finally stand in a terrible flame without crying out. What it grants is the primal terror that all natural things hold toward fire, turned outward as a weapon, at the cost of being slowly remade in flame's image.
