Rune-laden Scales
Frost-rimed mail that drinks a chaos-wielder's power and demands purity in return.

A light, supple vest of bluish steel scales, each etched with silvery runes recovered from the ruins near Barrier Pass. The work of a Maker, it lies cold to the touch and is forever edged with frost; the wearer stays comfortable in deep cold and unharmed by exposure or any magic that would freeze flesh.
The Scales were forged to stand against chaos. They turn hostile magic aside, and the heroes who wore them before were known by the agents of the Things Below they laid low. But the armor keeps a strict bargain: it answers only to those who oppose chaos without compromise, and over time its demands sharpen toward absolute purity and unflinching opposition. To break faith — to wield chaotic magic, or to kill in anger — is to find the runes gone cold and silent.

Properties
A light, supple vest of bluish steel scales, each etched with silvery runes from the ruins near Barrier Pass, is a Maker working cold to the touch and edged with frost. Wearing the scales keeps you comfortable in cold and safe from exposure or magic that would freeze flesh, though not from secondary ice hazards. When you stand fast against magical attack, roll +CON. On a 10+, the magic washes over you with no ill effect; on a 7-9, suffer half damage and reduced effect; on a 6-, mark XP and suffer fully. Defeating wielders of chaotic magic marks progress. Unlocking the armor grants moves such as Indomitable, Magnet, Power Sink, and Proof Against Harm, improving resistance, redirecting magic, draining attackers’ powers, or raising armor to 3 even against piercing and armor-ignoring harm. Consequences tighten its demands for purity and opposition to chaos.
