Safe in a ship or satellite, viewing the tiny planet silhouetted against the great red giant destined to one day devour it, you have a unique perspective on doom. Constantly, gently encroaching, it's neither something to be feared nor something to be looked forward to, and you've learned techniques for both staving it off and for embracing it.
