A painted soldier is a flat figure stepped out of a mural or scroll, animated into a stiff, papery warrior that marches and stabs with eerie obedience. Hard as lacquered board until it cracks, it fights on as long as its painted shell holds.
In play
Construct Armor Like normal objects, a painted soldier has Hardness. This Hardness reduces any damage it takes by an amount equal to the Hardness. Once a painted soldier is reduced to less than half its Hit Points, or immediately upon being damaged by a critical hit, its construct armor breaks, removing the Hardness and reducing its Armor Class to 21.
