The Hollowed Vaults
Vast catacombs beneath a plague-destroyed city where restless skeletal patrols wander and sealed nobles' tombs wait to be ransacked.
Vast catacombs beneath a city destroyed by plague centuries ago. The dead here do not rest easily.
Environment Underground
The Hollowed Vaults extend beneath the ruins of a once-great city, their original purpose as honorable burial halls perverted by the mass interments of a devastating plague. Miles of corridors are lined with bone niches, mass graves sealed behind crumbling mortar, and memorial chambers whose inscriptions tell the story of a civilization's collapse. Necromantic energy saturates the deepest levels, spontaneously animating the dead — skeletal patrols wander without purpose, and more powerful undead claim territory in the larger crypts. The vaults also contain sealed sections from before the plague: noble family tombs with their treasures intact, a buried temple district, and the city's emergency vault where its most precious artifacts were hidden as the end approached.
