The Fangspire Mountains

A jagged wall of stone and ice whose ancient cliff-roads are the only passage—but avalanches, giants, and worse wait in every pass.

A treacherous mountain range with peaks so high they pierce the clouds. Its passes are the only overland route between two major regions.

Environment Mountain

The Fangspire Mountains are a jagged wall of granite and ice cutting across the continent, their highest peaks permanently wreathed in cloud. The range is riddled with passes, but only a handful are navigable, and all are dangerous — avalanches, altitude sickness, and territorial creatures claim dozens of travelers each season. Dwarven holds and mining communities dot the lower elevations, while the upper peaks are home to giants, wyverns, and reclusive monastery orders who seek enlightenment in the thin air. Ancient roads carved into cliff faces by a forgotten empire still serve as the primary trade routes, though their crumbling state makes every journey a gamble. The mountains are also honeycombed with natural cave systems that connect to the deep underground.
