The Blightmire
A poisoned swamp where carnivorous plants lurk beneath the water and stilt-villages of immunity-bred peoples navigate hidden paths.
A murky swampland where the water is poisonous, the foliage is carnivorous, and entire villages have been swallowed without a trace.
Environment Swamp
The Blightmire is a vast wetland of stagnant pools, sucking mud, and dense vegetation that blocks both sunlight and navigation. The water itself carries a slow-acting toxin that causes hallucinations and eventually madness in those who drink it unfiltered. Carnivorous plants of enormous size lurk beneath lily pads and hanging moss, and the insect swarms carry diseases that resist mundane treatment. Despite all this, communities exist here — stilt-villages built by swamp-dwelling peoples who have developed immunity to the water's effects and know the safe paths through the mire. The deeper swamp is said to contain a sunken city from an age when the region was dry land, its treasures preserved in the anaerobic mud.
