Movement and Restraint Conditions

Grabbed/Restrained restrict actions and impose off-guard. Prone penalizes attacks but helps vs ranged. Slowed removes actions; Quickened adds one. Encumbered reduces Speed.

Several conditions restrict a creature's ability to move or act physically.

Grabbed: You are held by another creature. While grabbed, you are off-guard and immobilized (cannot use move actions). You can attempt to Escape (Athletics or Acrobatics vs the grabber's Athletics DC) to break free. Manipulate actions while grabbed require a DC 5 flat check or they fail. The grabber must use at least one hand to maintain the grab.

Restrained: A more severe version of grabbed. You are off-guard, immobilized, and your only options for breaking free are the Escape action or Force Open. Restrained is typically caused by critical success on Grapple, chains, webs, or entangle spells.

Immobilized: You cannot use any action with the move trait. You can still act normally otherwise — attack, cast spells, use skills. Your Speed is effectively 0. Caused by grabbed, restrained, or effects that pin you in place.

Prone: You are lying on the ground. You take a -2 circumstance penalty to attack rolls, are off-guard (take -2 to AC), and your only movement option is Crawl (5 feet per action). However, you gain +4 circumstance bonus to AC against ranged attacks and can use Take Cover while prone. Standing up from prone costs 1 action (Stand).

Encumbered: You are carrying too much weight. Your Speed is reduced by 10 feet (minimum 5 feet), and you take a -1 penalty to physical skill checks. This occurs when your carried Bulk exceeds 5 + Strength modifier.

Slowed: You lose actions at the start of your turn equal to the slowed value. Slowed 1 means you get only 2 actions instead of 3. Slowed 2 means only 1 action. Typically caused by poison, cold effects, or debilitating spells.

Quickened: The opposite of slowed — you gain 1 extra action at the start of your turn. However, the quickened condition restricts what the extra action can be used for (specified by the source). You cannot be both quickened and slowed; the values cancel out.
